Our Classes

Hello and welcome

Both trainers at Cornwall Dog Training Club are Kennel Club Listed Trainers, which means we can offer you and your dog the opportunity to work towards achieving the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Good Citizen Awards.

Our aim is to help you train your dog to whatever level you choose—whether that’s having a sociable, well‑behaved, happy pet, or laying the foundations for obedience and other dog activities you may wish to pursue in the future. We welcome other members of your family to join in the training, so that everyone is working together to support your family pet.

Cornwall Dog Training Club was established in 2002 by a group of enthusiasts, with Karen as a founding member. Karen and Sue bring over 50 years of combined dog training experience. Both hold Pet Dog Institute Instructor Qualifications and have trained with leading dog trainers across the UK, ensuring their practices remain up to date.

Sue is an obedience judge as well as a Kennel Club Good Citizen judge. She competes in Competitive Obedience, Rally Obedience, and Agility, regularly attending shows throughout the UK. Karen has also competed in Competitive Obedience and Agility, and has shown dogs at championship breed shows across the UK, achieving championship status with her dogs.

The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme, which is non‑competitive, covers simple but essential exercises such as basic training, grooming, exercise, diet, cleaning up after your dog, and general healthcare. All dogs are eligible for Good Citizen training—pedigree or cross‑breed, young or old. Each level builds gradually on your understanding of dogs and their needs:

  • Puppy Foundation – for puppies aged 10 weeks to 1 year
  • Bronze Good Citizen – from 5 months old
  • Silver Good Citizen – for dogs who have passed the Bronze level
  • Gold Good Citizen – from 12 months old, having passed both Bronze and Silver levels
